A bit more about me

Software engineer, data scientist by training, and a firm believer that the most interesting AI work happens after the notebook.

Story

I started out shipping websites and mobile apps in Nairobi: internships at Willfreight, @iLabAfrica and Kodally, then full-stack work at Risk Africa Innovatis, where I first put LLMs into a production system.

That pulled me towards data science. I moved to the Netherlands for an MSc in Computer Science (Data Science) at Leiden University, spent 2025 building Generative AI tools at Unilever, and taught quantum computing as a TA on the side.

Since September 2026 I've been a Software (AI) Engineer at ING in Wholesale Banking, working on AI-powered document extraction.

International

I've lived and worked in Kenya, Estonia and the Netherlands, and I do my best work in international teams. Learning the language is how I get to know a place, which is why my Dutch keeps getting better.
